What Is Love Part 2, or, how lacking is my chick flick education

I told Kevin I’d only seen 6 romantic comedies and his eyes nearly popped out. We went through the list I’d used to see if I’d skipped any movies.* He read over my shoulder while I scrolled.

“Yes…yes…no…yes…no…no…”

“‘Mr. Deeds’ isn’t a romantic comedy, is it?”

“Definitely not. No…no…yes…yes…yes…”

“And ‘Shakespeare in Love’ definitely wasn’t.”

“Yeah, no kidding.”

(time passes)

“Yes…yes…”

“Wait, yes to Bridget Jones?”

“Yep.”

“That’s the second one.”

“Yeah, I’ve seen both of them.”

“Ouch.”

(more time passes)

Me: “Oh, I have seen that ‘Sabrina!'”

Kevin: “That’s a good one.”

(even more time passes)

Kevin: Wait a minute, “Return to Me” isn’t on there and that one’s my favorite!

My final (revised) count is 9. Kevin’s: 45.

*Kevin does not believe “Miss Congeniality” was a romantic comedy, but I’m keeping it on the list because it has the a ridiculous amount of estrogen. And I initially didn’t count any Jane Austen movies because they’re historical.

    • Heehee, I think a lot of it had to do with him having an older sister. I’m not sure he had much say in the matter.
