Whoa, July?

A funny thing happened today. After weeks upon weeks of clammy cloudiness and gray skies, it got hot. Like, 97 degrees hot. Out of nowhere. And tomorrow will be the same.

Luckily, I get to spend most of the day in an air-conditioned office. I can take my breaks in the sun outside and get some vitamin D and go inside before it gets too searingly hot. California was this hot over the 4th of July weekend, but we took cover indoors until it was nice enough to sit on the porch. Our corner of Oregon isn’t really used to that kind of heat.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in anything over 80 degrees. The warmest day in Ireland last summer was 73 degrees – I remember because it felt excessively warm and I looked it up. And after our extra-super-duper-maddeningly long winter/spring/blah, being this close the triple-digits is a bit overwhelming.

Jessica found an appropriate picture for the situation.
