Day 7: A song that reminds you of a certain event.
The time: June 2005. The scene: Seattle’s Experience Music Project, darkened and deafening, full of seizure-inducing dance lighting. The characters: high school seniors, bedecked in tuxes and sparkly gowns for prom, corsages fluttering on wrists everywhere. Glow sticks weave in the darkness. Girls take off their shoes to dance, then put them back on when the DJ announces that some glasses have broken and no one can be barefoot anymore. Glow sticks are broken open, for some reason, and some kids are spotted with glowing designs doodled on their arms. The more daring dribble the stuff in their mouths and show off their glowing tongues. They probably have tongue cancer now.
And “Sandstorm,” techno hit of the year, was played twice.
Not entirely sure why that song needs an official music video, but there you go.
