This is pretty spot-on, and cute to boot: Dr. Carmella’s Guide to Understanding the Introverted.

Kate Nash was on Q last week talking about her new album, “Girl Talk,” and she was amazing.  She talked a lot about her frustration with how girls and women are depicted in media and mainstream music, and her hopes to inspire young girls to be brave and make genuine music.

H. R. Giger, designer of the aliens in “Alien,” had some choice words for the studio when the fourth “Alien” movie didn’t include his name in the credits.

I enjoyed Mia’s thoughts on being ladylike, or not.

Late-breaking addition: CNN laments the destroyed futures of the two high school football players who raped a 16-year-old classmate. Trent Mays, 17, and Ma’lik Richmond, 16, were depicted as “promising young men who made an oopsie, as if raping an unconscious girl is the same as cheating on the SATs.”  Ugh.  Ladies and gentlemen, rape culture.  Here’s hoping that other networks are treating the actual victim as the victim, instead of the perpetrators.

  1. Aw, thanks! I think your comments really add something to the discussion, otherwise it’s just me nattering on about identity. Sigh, it’s confusing being a woman.

I would NOT want to make H.R. Geiger mad. Dude imagines some scary stuff.
